My husband came back from his run and asked me for help getting kids up and out to show them something—we had a lovely waning crescent moon tucked in the clouds, and Saturn, Mars, and Jupiter were all in a little visible triad! I got out my night sky app to help the kids identify everything and everyone got to see this cool planetary alignment!

My son, Danger, is adamant that he will grow up to be an astronaut, so we have astronomy on the brain pretty much all the time. Well, first he wanted to be Davy Crockett, but once he realized that earth doesn't really have many frontiers left for a Davy Crockett kind of guy, he decided to look to the final frontier: space.
