Memorial Day Printables/Resources
Hey friends!
What are your plans for Memorial Day? We usually head out to my Grandpa's place and go with him to do the rounds of all the cemeteries near there, to place flags (or flowers) on all the ancestral headstones. It's a sweet time with the family, and we get to take the time to appreciate both our heritage and the sacrifices that our very own family made for our freedoms.
We spend a lot of time sharing stories about adventures everyone had; how great-grandpa pioneered and staked a claim out on the prairie, after riding the train as far as it went; how Great-Uncle Junior parachuted into Italy during WWII; about how my Grandma and her sisters were born in Great-Great Grandma's house, which was just across the street from the schoolhouse; how Great Uncle K was born on leap-day, so he died at the ripe old age of 23, and he was born in a hold in the ground (a dugout). It's good to remember, and we have a precious time.
But it does end up being a lot of time in the car (there's a lot of driving between cemeteries!) it's nice to have a few printables and activities for the kids to do in between scampering out of the car to help with flags and flowers! Here's a link to some free Memorial Day printables that y'all can use, too!
